A post study work visa is a category which allows the retaining of international graduates who have studied in the UK to remain for 2 years and to work. Post study workers are  allowed to work full time.
 
You can apply if you are a student in UK (this includes students, student nurses, students who are re-sitting for examinations and students writing up a thesis.)
 
You can also apply if you are in the UK with permission to stay under the Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme (SEGS) or International Graduates Scheme (IGS).
 
How to qualify?
 
To apply, you must have scored 95 under the points-based system and to be accepted into the post-study worker category, you must pass a points-based assessment.

75 Points are awarded for what are called "Attributes", these are awarded as follows:

If you have been awarded a UK recognised Bachelor's or postgraduate degree; or a higher national diploma (HMD) from a Scottish institution [20 points available].
If you studied for the award at a United Kingdom recognised or listed body; a Scottish publicly funded institution of further or higher education or acceptable private education institution (if your HMD is from a Scottish institution); or hold a sponsor license under Tier 4 of the Points Based System [20 points available]
If your period of study and/or research was while you were in the UK with an entry clearance, leave to enter or to remain as a student or dependant of someone with leave in any category permitting the admittance of dependants [20 points available].

If your application for entry clearance under *Tier I (Post-Study Work) is made within   12 months of obtaining the eligible award  [15  points available].

10 points are given for English language proficiency 10 points for the maintenance (funds) details.
